Volume 11.11
In 2003 Fran Sartori retired from our company after forty-six years of
exceptional service. Even if you never knew or had the pleasure of speaking
with her, her story is worth reading. Class never goes out of style. Fran
is an exceptional person in many ways and will be missed dearly.

A Not So Grimm Fairy Tale
Once upon a time, long ago and not so far away, a cute high school girl
applied for a part-time job at a local business. The student was hoping
to earn some short-term spending money and learn some office skills.
It was a small operation. In fact, there was only one other person in
the department. The boss was a stern and serious man about business and
very particular about the kind of person he intended to hire. He made
it clear to the applicant there was to be no frivolity or personal business
conducted while on the job. While somewhat fearful she took the job anyway,
but only until something better came along.
As time passed, her desire to succeed and intense effort yielded results.
The department size doubled, then doubled again, all the while garnering
the trust and respect of other local businesspersons. The girl was now
a woman with a small family of her own and had acquired the skills and
know-how to perform all the important tasks needed to be successful. Unfortunately,
the wicked business partners of her boss were curt and uncomplimentary
to her. Not a quitter by nature, she decided to stay and earn the respect
of the other partners.
Eventually, the other partners sold their interests to her boss and the
size of the business grew to where the girl was now hiring, training and
supervising an entire staff. Everything seemed fine. Enter the man's collegiate
daughter and longhaired son into the business. Rather than treating them
like the wicked business partners treated her, she decided she would teach
and encourage them. After all, who knew how long they would be around?
The girl and the businessman, along with his children, worked closely
together for many years building the business to sixty employees and many
offices. The picture they had painted in their minds had finally taken
recognizable form.
In forty-six years, that cute little girl never did find a better job.
She made many friends during her career and taught many people what it
meant to do a job accurately, thoroughly and with class. She taught people
how to be businesslike and to embrace difficulties as lessons needing
to be learned in order to grow. Moreover, the people whose lives she touched
will never forget her.
Fran Sartori retired from the Ann Arbor Credit Bureau in the year 2003
and moved to a lovely cottage in the hamlet of Houghton Lake with her
husband Bob to live happily ever after.

Consolidation Plan
Changing times call for changing strategies and that is what our company
has prepared for. Our Jackson office has consolidated with our corporate
office in Ann Arbor effective October 1, 2003. The Adrian office has done
the same effective November 1, 2003. Both our collection and mortgage
credit reporting staffs are under one roof in Ann Arbor. Our goals are
to better utilize our talented personnel and our new predictive dialing
technology while significantly reducing the operating expense associated
with multiple offices.
Other than the absence of a local office, there will not be much of a
noticeable change to you and your staff. Our commitment to continuous
improvement, timely and accurate answers to your questions, and the results
you have come to expect will continue. Our experience a few years ago
when we consolidated our Howell and Southfield offices was that the change
was made smoothly and without incident. We expect this change to be no
different.
Certainly, there will be challenges and minor difficulties, but nothing
that should significantly affect you, our clients. We thank you for your
understanding, patience and support. Please feel welcome to contact me
with any concerns you may have.
As always, we greatly appreciate your patronage of our business.
