Lasting Memories

As we are in the throws of the holiday giving spirit, that often manifests itself into the showering of gifts to family and loved ones, how easy it is to focus on "things" rather than people. Do not get me wrong; I like things as much as the next person, but what are the memories that seem everlasting during this wonderful season. Here are a couple of my fondest recollections of the season.

Delivering Motor Meals on Christmas days to shut-ins with my children, who after the initial shock the first year of leaving their gifts, never complained about the deliveries again. We witnessed the sad side of those spending the holidays alone or in the dark, unable to pay the electric bill.

Being pulled over for a traffic ticket on the way to go sledding and my children hysterically crying saying "Please don't take my Daddy to jail sir."

Ringing the bell for Salvation Army on windy snow-blown days with my sister and father. Hearing vivid stories told by strangers on how the Salvation Army got a stranded loved one a bus ticket home for the holidays and how they vowed never to pass a kettle without dropping something in it.

Picking out the family Christmas tree and the ensuing debates, sometimes heated. "It is too skinny, too short, too fat. And of course, the time the tree fell off the car on the way home in traffic and oh, how we laughed and laughed.

To me, the lasting memories are not of "things" but are of events experienced with other people, not all of the events joyous, but predominantly so. We wish all you and your loved ones the very best of the season. Please give generously to charities that have been hit hard by the difficult economic times.

From all of us at Credit Bureau, Inc.
We wish to thank all of our clients and friends for their continued patronage. In lieu of sending Christmas cards, we have made a contribution to several local charitable organizations. We thought you would approve - since it is the giving season!! We also wanted you to receive a special greeting from our staff, because we understand that relationships are built with people, not corporations.
Wishing You the Happiest of Holidays!!!
